Our History

In the summer of 1998, Stuart Meyerson, founder of Autumn Life Settlements, began the search for group in Charlotte dedicated to the growth of entrepreneurs. After he realized no such group or organization existed, the resourceful Stuart hooked up with the internationally recognized Young Entrepreneurs Organization (YEO). Several meetings and conversations later, Stuart decided to test his desire to create a Charlotte YEO chapter and reached out so several friends and business owners. The idea was an instant hit! Stuart put together a core group of 3 individuals and began planning their first recruiting event scheduled for January 1999. This amazing first-of-its-kind event resulted in 20 new members by March 1999. April 1999 was the chapters’ first official Forum training and the first 2 Forums were formed. Amazingly, these two Forums are still together almost 9 years later!

In 2006, YEO International went through a re-branding and determined Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), as we are known today, was a better reflection of our membership based on the increase of the organizations average age. Twenty years ago, YEO’s maximum age limit was 32. This quickly changed to a maximum age limit of 40 and remained until 2006. The new age limit is 50 and Forums are now assembled based on life stage and peerness versus age.

In the fall of 2006, EO Charlotte was one of 5 selected chapters internationally to launch the new Accelerator program. Accelerator is an annual learning program dedicated to entrepreneurs who have between $250,000 and $1,000,000 in revenue. Accelerator was made possible by a generous $500,000 donation by Mercedes Benz Credit to develop the curriculum and train the world class facilitators. Charlotte currently has 15 participants in the Accelerator program and December 5th marks the beginning of its second year. Today EO Charlotte is 50+ members strong and growing.
